Tonight, the KHMH's ICU remains patient-free. It's a new reality that coupled with the hospital staff'S 80% vaccine coverage might make you think that the biggest health facility in the country is almost out of the COVID woods.
But there are still 52 active cases in Belize and many countries are in the deep throes of a third wave - so the relief of right now may be an interim victory.
But, a victory nonetheless and proof that the country as a whole has made great strides in flattening the curve, proof of that we saw in the empty beds at the COVID ICU today. Cherisse Halsall reports:
The hospital is slowly restoring pre-covid services with their specialist outpatient clinic returning to premises. They've also, just today, re-opened visiting hours and added an extra hour for one visitor at a time from 5-6 in the evening.
