Mexican Pilot and Co-Pilot Ramon Perez and Humberto Gonzalez have been in the custody of Belizean police since their unauthorized but controlled crash landing of a Cessna 210 in Blue Creek Village a month ago. At the time the men claimed to have experienced some sort of engine failure saying that they'd been forced to land in the area.

And while this plane did land it did so without any weight, save the small amount of cocaine - less than a gram - that Lopez was carrying on his person.

Both men were detained and Pilot Ramon Perez was charged for landing an aircraft without the permission of the Minister of Civil Aviation while Gonzalez was charged with conspiracy to do the same. And almost a month later Perez has been convicted while Gonzalez has been allowed to go free, here's more.

ACP Joseph Myvette
"It is last week that he was convicted in the Orange Walk's Magistrate's Court where he was fined a total of 7,000 Belize dollars, he is still in prison awaiting the payment of that fine. The other person who was along with him has since been released from prison and an order to leave the country was issued to him by the immigration department."
