Two more fatal traffic incidents also occurred late Friday evening. The first was on the Placencia Road. According to police, Jose Pop lost his life as he crossed the street while a vehicle was overtaking another. ACP Joseph Myvett has the details.

"On Friday, sometime around 5:30pm, Placencia police were called to an area near the Placencia junction where they observed the lifeless body of Jose Pop with severe head and body injuries. Also seen was a grey in color pickup which at the time was driven by one Gerardo Arevalo and Arevalo reported to the police that he was west bound on the Placencia Road when he saw a passenger bus on the same lane that he was and in the process of overtaking the bus, that was when Pop ran across the road in front of his vehicle and he was unavoidably hit by the vehicle driven by Pop. Mr Arevalo was detained where samples were taken from him and he was later released pending the outcome of this investigation."
