As we told you the Commissioner was on West Street 0 in the heart of Mesopotamia.

Last night, you heard "Shyne" Barrow, the Area Rep. for this constituency, criticizing the Briceno Government for speaking out against human rights taking place halfway around the world, while staying mute about this domestic emergency.

Well, the Commissioner told us that contrary to the Area Rep. assertions, his department has placed intense focus on this part of the city. Here's how he explained the police efforts to restore peace and calm:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Yesterday morning myself and Mr. Rosado walk through the neighborhood, we spoke to people and gave them the assurance in terms of what we are doing to address the issue and there are a number of things that we are doing to ensure the safety of the people in this constituency, because at the end of the day the police department do have a responsibility to ensure the safety and security of all the people in this country and so we are not ignoring what is happening here, because this if we allow it to fester can indeed make us look bad internationally and again I spoke to my minister this morning and he was in the area this morning likewise doing his rounds meeting people and talking to people and both of us are on the same page in ensuring that we do what needs to be done to address the problem here. If you move around you will see that we have had an increase in police presence in this area, so much so that to some extent we are neglecting other areas."

Later on in the news, we'll have a little more from the ComPol, when he discusses his Supreme Court loss against Corporal Eldon Arzu.
