Here's the police account of the initial findings of the investigation into the fatal accident:
ACP Joseph Myvette
"On Friday last sometime shortly before 6:00 p.m. police were called to the scene of a road traffic accident between miles 44 and 45 on the George Price Highway where upon arrival they saw a Chevy equinox which had overturned on the side of the road and also at the scene the apparent lifeless body of Rhonda Burgess was seen on the roadside. What the police know so far is that the equinox at that point was being driven by one Erlin young of an Orange Walk town address and he was accompanied by several other passengers and just about that point before reaching the accident scene he attempted to overtake a truck which was traveling in the same direction which was from east to west and he was unable to do so and that caused him to lose control where the vehicle overturned several times before landing where it was found. Several passengers had received injuries and they have all been treated and released. So far Mr. Young has been served with a notice of intended prosecution pending the outcome of the investigation. I've also been briefed that at the time based on a large cut wound that he had on his head samples could not have been taken from him because he was bleeding profusely from the injuries that he had."
Cherisse Halsall:
"Sir will Santander face any sanctions for the truck that was parked on the shoulder of the road?"
ACP Joseph Myvette
"Well, that is a part of the investigation at this point in time."
As you heard, the driver of the vehicle has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
