And while there were no COVID deaths this weekend, a man escaped death-by-gunshot after he survived a shooting on Friday night. The incident occurred in the Benguche area of Dangriga. 44-year-old Steven Lorenzo, known as "Burial" had been socializing with a group of people when two men opened fire - not caring if their target or someone innocent was caught in the gunfire. Police gave preliminary details on this case.
Reports to our newsroom was that Lorenzo was not the target - but rather he was sitting beside the person the gunmen went to kill. Lorenzo was simply a victim of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
He was released from the hospital on Sunday morning.
