Earlier in the news we brought you the story of a coast guardsman who was caught with hundreds of pounds of seafood contraband. After the story aired, the commandant of the Belize Coast Guard, Gregory Soberanis, reached out to clarify that the guardsman was not on official duty when he was intercepted by authorities, and he was not being facilitated by their patrol base in Consejo, as some had suspected.

Soberanis added, quote, "His conduct and behaviour is unbecoming of a Coast Guard officer and he will face internal disciplinary measures." End quote.
