And, that's perhaps the same kind of friendly relationship that 25 year old waiter Danilo Villatoro Amador had with Corporal Alfonso Guy.
Villatoro killed Guy in January of 2019 inside the San Pedro police barracks where they were socializing. He killed Guy with the cop's own weapon, a 9 millimetre service pistol.
It's a case that draws close parallels to Jasmin Hartin's killing of Superintendent Henry Jemmott. Two cops killed with their own weapon on the same island, by a close friend with whom they were socialising privately.
But, the outcomes are very different. Hartin has been charged with manslaughter by negligence while Villatoro was charged for murder. Here's what police said in January of 2019:
Supt. Reymundo Reyes- OC, San Pedro Police
"What we are doing is that the case file or whatsoever we have on hand will be sent to office of the Director of Public Prosecution for advice. We cannot say; we are investigating it as a murder investigation right now but we will seek legal advice from the but we will seek legal advice from the Office of the DPP whether we should proceed with a charge or with what charge we should proceed. On Saturday evening police formally arrested and charged, Josue Danilo Villatoro Amador, a twenty-five-year-old, Honduran national for the crime of murder."

"Did you manage to establish from him if it was an accident why he ran off from the scene?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"That is his allegation in regards to the incident. That is what he is alleging. We had to consult with our DPP office and they were the ones that advised us to proceed with the charge."
Reporter
"Did he say if they were playing with the pistol? Were they any games going on?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"They were not playing."
Villatoro remains at the Hattieville Prison on remand for murder.
