A John Doe is currently inside the morgue and the police are no closer to identifying him this evening. His body was found on the banks of the Macal River in San Ignacio Town this morning with injuries that left his face disfigured. Courtney Menzies travelled west today and has this story.
A family is missing their loved one - and probably doesn't even know that he is dead. The body of a man was found early this morning, in San Ignacio, just on the other side of River View Restaurant's fence - near the Macal River.
His identity is still unknown but what's clear is that he was brutally murdered, with visible, grotesque injuries. A resident of the town saw the body early this morning, before police got to the scene, and told us what he witnessed.
Courtney Menzies:
"Somebody came and told you there's a body over there?"
Voice of: Resident
"Yes."
Courtney Menzies:
"And then you went over there?"
Voice of: Resident
"All of us, like six, seven of us went over there."
Courtney Menzies:
"Can you describe how you saw the body?"
Voice of: Resident
"It was without no eye, neck broke up and everything."
Courtney Menzies:
"And you said you don't recognize him as somebody from here?"
Voice of: Resident
"You couldn't recognize him because he had no eye, his eye was really sink in. You couldn't, if it was even you working with him, you couldn't recognize him."
Courtney Menzies:
"And how long after did the police reach?"
Voice of: Resident
"Like two hours, they reach really too late. In other words, they heard about it but they didn't come right away because the person was almost dead. But I came like 5 or 6 o'clock and they came like 7, so they came much much later. But then again he was already dead, so what could they do about it?"
And that was all anybody really knew about the body, since the police still haven't been able to identify him. Earlier today, they had few details.

"I received this information a little while ago that San Ignacio police did find a body somewhere this morning, but to say if it's stab wounds we are not certain as yet because I know that they were still processing the scene when I spoke to the officers out there. So hopefully by midday I can update you on that."

"So the body has not been identified Sir?"

"Not as yet."
Up until news time, the police were unable to provide any additional information.
