And while Orlando Spain died at home, William Thompson never got home.

Thompson had been hitchhiking near the junction of Santa Elena and the Cristo Rey Road when he was very likely killed.

Today his brother Anthony told us that they've been catching rides in that spot since they were boys:

Anthony Thompson, Brother of the deceased
"I heard he had already gotten home, but he came out and I don't know what he usually does to go out at night but he normally gets here. like I came to work too, I came early too but that day I came late and I don't know but shucks I don't want to talk about this but..."

"Well, he meant a lot because he's our brother right, he used to be a construction worker, for right here on the Benque road he used to work that is all he used to do, work and go home and work and go home and come to town on Friday evening and take his little you know. But nobody has the right to take away the man's life but I hope justice is done right."

Cherisse Halsall:
"One more question Sir I know that from time to time he used to like hitchhiking at that spot."

Anthony Thompson, Brother of the deceased
"I hitchhike there too, every day."

Cherisse Halsall:
"You ever feel like your life is in danger when you hitchhike?"

Anthony Thompson, Brother of the deceased
"Well you see the difference between him and I is that when I get there I walk probably he stays and sits down there and I don't do that I keep walking. Because that's our, what we do we always get rides since we were young. That's where we stand up to catch a ride. But you see, it's dangerous now."

"Now, nobody will want to stop there. Our little Cayo is getting out of hand now. I just hope they catch the people that did that though."
