Most of the weed in demand is said to come across from Mexico, but there is still cultivation of indigenous seeds - if somewhat a little less tonight. That's because Police destroyed 2 marijuana plantations today: 1 in the Stann Creek District, and another in the Orange Walk District.
At around 4:00 this morning, a team of officers conducted an operation in the Freshwater Creek Reserve area, and that's when they found a small marijuana plantation measuring about 75 feet by 75 feet. It contained about 2,500 plants measuring 1 and 5 feet. All marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire.
Then, another enforcement team of officers and BDF soldiers conducted an operation southwest of Santa Martha Village in the Orange Walk District. That resulted in the discovery of another marijuana plantation measuring about 125 feet by 75 feet. This one had about a thousand plants measuring between 1 and 7 feet, however, the majority of them were already harvested. The rest were uprooted and destroyed by fire.
