Residents of Belize City have been reporting that several shooting incidents happened in different parts of the old capital during the weekend. One of those incidents has landed 32-year-old Francis Parham in the hospital.

The best information to 7News is that Parham has been confined to a wheelchair since 2018 when he was the victim of a separate shooting on the George Price Highway. But, that didn't stop a gunman from opening fire on him yesterday at Fuller's alley. Here's what the Head of the Criminal Investigations Branch in Belize City told us when the press asked about that incident:

Supt. Alejandro Cowo- OC, CIB Belize City
"Yesterday evening, Mr. Francis Miller Parham was in his yard on Fullers Alley, when he observed a male person on a bicycle coming toward his direction. Also, there was another person standing in the yard. This person who approached them on a bicycle [and] fired several at them, injuring Mr. Parham is presently admitted in a stable condition at the hospital. So far, police are looking for one person who they believe can assist in this investigation."

Reporter
"What seems to be the motive behind this particular shooting. We know that the Parhams who live on Curassow Street have had a history of run-ins with the law."

Supt. Alejandro Cowo
"The person in question who was injured. I know that he traverses the Curassow Street, and likewise Fuller's Alley. He had been a victim previously, where I believe he had been shot 3 or 4 years ago, somewhere on the George Price Highway. The situation with the Parhams is that due to - I believe - previous misunderstandings with other persons, that might have led to this shooting. We believe that the person who was injured was not the target, but another person who was in the yard."
