For weeks now, John Saldivar has been promoting a constituency convention at the UB gymnasium on Sunday, August 15th.
But, on August 4th - Saldivar's sideman, Miley Garcia wrote to the Ministry of Health asking for guidance for the event - so that they can have all COVID protocols in place.
Well, the Deputy DHS Francis Morey wrote back on the Minister's behalf saying that Belize is going through a third wave and informed Garcia that in accordance with the Public Health Act, quote, "such event is not being supported by the Ministry of Health and wellness." end quote. Basically, that shut the convention down.
And just like that he played right into the hands of the UDP's headquarters which did not support Saldivar having the convention at this time.
