LGBTQ activist and Managing Director of our circle Derrica Castillo Salazar has been accused of a vicious domestic attack on longtime organization supporter Shania Perez.
It's a story that's been making the rounds of the media cycle since Monday but one that hasn't been reported since police refrained from commenting.
But circumstances changed today when Perez posted this photo on Facebook with the caption: " I will remember and recover. But I will not forget and forgive." it included the hashtag #The real scarface.
The post comes after Castillo's organization Our Circle put out a release lamenting the altercation that led to the stabbing. In it they say quote: " We are terribly disappointed that such an incident occurred at an initiative spearheaded by Our Circle, especially during Pride week. Even more, so that it included a long-standing member of the organization and one of our employees." End quote.
Reports to 7 news are that the incident was the result of intimate partner counseling that was being carried out during a weekend retreat hosted and Pedro's Inn.
And in today's release members of the family's first LGBTQ organization go on to say that: Quote: " Our circle is taking steps to ensure that an incident like this never happens again by enforcing stricter security measures at all interventions in the future." End quote.
Derrica Castillo Salazar who was released on bail today has since been granted a leave of absence from the organization in order to Prepare her defence in the matter.
She is expected to make a statement in the coming days.
