And another figure who won't be charged for an allegation of wrongdoing is Gilroy Usher Jr. The son of the PUP Port Loyola area rep. Gilroy Sr.
Usher was intercepted last night with a firearm whose license had expired two weeks earlier.
Williams said he still had two weeks grace period to license it:
Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I don't know if the firearm was illegal. From what I have been briefed that his vehicle was searched and police therein a 9mm pistol. The 9mm pistol is licensed to him but apparently, he had not renewed the license for 2 weeks. The law do makes provision for a grace period of 1 month, so a person 1 month after the expiration of their license to renew the license. So, the fact that we do have a grace period in law, he cannot be charged for unlicensed firearm."
Later on, in the news - we ask the Commissioner if his ineffectiveness is what has led to the position where a southside state of emergency had to be invoked.
