Asked about that dismissive quip from last week - the CWU President said it was more than insulting, it was hurtful and unbecoming for a man in his high office:

Evan Mose Hyde - President, CWU
"On becoming of a member of the executive who is in a privileged position through the collective wisdom of the people to serve to the interest of all Belizeans and to be fair to be empathetic, to have a sense of only the best for Belizeans from Corozal to Toledo. I don't know if when he reflects on it, he could think that such a statement and the mocking laugh at the end of that statement could ever measure up to the kind of decency that you need to have when you're leading people, when you're shepherding the flock. Even if your position is there is nothing you can do, you have to at least, even if you have to fake it, sound like I feel for them brothers what they are going through. Just by duty you should try fake it, these are hardworking people who have never done anything wrong. At this time when people feeling a level of anger, a sense of displacement, a sense that they have been betrayed because they see those agreements, they read the MOU, they read the privatization agreement and they want to know well, why will you not stand behind those? So, in the face of the government saying no, we sign that then but we have changed our minds now, you at the very least have to say, boy I feel your pain and he was incapable of saying that, he said go find something else to do as if though they are less Belizeans than anybody else. I think that the government should really figure out if they are just going to accept that those lines remain unaccountable and just left there, that's accepted, we're not going to publicly distance ourselves from that kind of compassion-less approach to leadership. When those words were said I can tell you the kind of comments that were coming, there was anger but they were injured you know, like the words gone deep, like even if you no feel like the brother is saying from a bad place, know that the words injure and at least say, make amends, a gesture of making amends, like why that is such a huge jump to make to just correct something that's so indecent."
