And while the ComPol didn't have much details on that murder, he said the investigation on the recent double murder/suicide in Belize City is all but over, with only the postmortem left.

On Saturday, 37-year-old police officer Arilee Young and her daughter, 17-year-old Sherane Cardenas were allegedly murdered by Young's common-law husband, 26-year-old Glenford Perriott.

Despite family members saying that the couple were not in an abusive relationship, the police department has classified this particular incident as another case of domestic violence, and said that reports to them are that the couple were constantly arguing.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"From what we see in the investigation so far is that it would appear to be a matter of domestic violence and as much as some may say these two persons did not live a life in domestic violence, the fact that you were killed by your spouse is domestic violence and the police practically have closed that investigation, what we will be doing is putting that file together after postmortem is concluded but I will still need to rely on the expert opinion of the pathologist who is going to tell us whether the injuries sustained by the young man is consistent with him committing suicide so we cannot close the door as yet until we have gotten that information and once the postmortem and everything is done then we put the file together and we send it to the DPP for further advice from there."

Courtney Menzies:
"Sir has the investigation so far reveal any type of motive because I'm sure you've heard the family said this is very uncharacteristic of the young man, were they arguing maybe over the phone before he left his job abruptly?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Well what we have been told by people who live nearby is that there is constant argument between the couple so we believe that there was some issue between them that led to what transpired."

Courtney Menzies:
"How will Miss Arilee's funeral go I understand the police department is planning it but you know with the new regulations saying funerals cannot be big?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We are the police and we must as much as we can abide by the regulations, if not we are going to be criticized and rightfully so. You will know when it comes to an official funeral, there are certain elements that must be present and so we will have just the firing party, that will be the team giving the 21 salute, we will have the pall bearers, those are the persons who carry the casket, a few wreath bearers and the band to do a slightly slow march to the burial site. We're not going to have that pomp and circumstance that we normally have we have police funerals, we're going to cut it down significantly to ensure we abide by the COVID 19 regulations."
