And while that incident wasn't gang related, the past few murders in the country have been tied to a rise in gang activity. And after the shooting of 15-year-old student Kassman Gill, the government resorted to a state of emergency. But this time, the ComPol said they're only targeting those directly responsible for the recent spate of gun violence.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"As I said before the State of Emergency was not a cast net activity but rather one that would be targeted and so as the minister has said to me that while yes we support doing it, we must ensure it is done based on intelligence and so what we did was to gather a list of those persons on whom we have credible information they are involved and only those persons have been targeted. Those other person who are out there and doing their best to hold it down, we continue to allow them to be out on the streets and live their lives how they currently are but they must be reminded the area is also detained and if they decide to do any nonsense then we will also move on them with the SOE but so far we have a total of 40 persons in detention. There are still a few persons we are looking for and the officers remain active on streets across the country pursuing those other individuals who are on the list."
