Reports emerged from Cancun last night of a Belizean man killed on Mexican soil. So far, his identity is unknown. But what is known is that he is the second Belizean to be killed this week in Cancun. The first was Osmond Melendez, who was murdered on Monday. He was with a group of men, of which only remains alive and well. His mother told our colleagues at CTV3 that Melendez left Belize less than three months ago to find work in Mexico, since he was having no luck here. She begged him not to go, and then begged him to come back. He promised he'd be back at the end of August, but now, sadly, he's coming home in a bodybag. His mother explained how she is just trying to get his body back over the border.

"Well, I got a call yesterday that my son passed away, which in he had passed away on Monday and I just got to know yesterday. I feel so bad because he was everything for me. He was my everything, I love my son so much. When they gave me that news, I was sad, I felt like I wanted to go too with him. He is my number one. Now, they took away everything from me."
"When I told him when he had left, that I don't want him to go over there, because I know about that place. You don't know what you are going into in that place and he told me that he was going, because he needed a job, so he went. I couldn't stop him because he tells me he is 21 years old. It hurts me, because he is my one and only son. Now, I am left with nothing."
"He knows a friend and so the friend calls him, like every time they were talking on the phone and he told me that this friend has a job for him out there and he was going. So, I told him, son don't go. It wasn't like he didn't have anything to eat. I cook in my house every day. I provide on my table every single day, so he made the decision and went. Now, I am feeling the pain now."
"He told me every day that ma, he is doing good, he is alright. I spoke to him on Friday and he told me ma, I am going to eat and I will send you some money."
"For a mother to lose their only child, for any mother - now, I feel the pain now. I know what many mothers out there go through. Now my pain hurts me so much."
She explained that he was with friends the day he died, and the one remaining Belizean had called to give her the bad news. She has warned him to come back to Belize before it is too late.

"They told me he was at a house. One of his friends told me that he was at a house probably socializing with girls and then when he was coming out the house, they shot him in his chest. The other guy was there too, all of them was there at that same house. They say when the shooting happened, they had to run, because they would have gotten shot too, so they couldn't do anything, because they had already shot my son on the ground, so they ran."
"Nobody calls me like that from over there. It me with my families try to have him come back over here, because no one had call me from over there. If I had made calls and things like that, I wouldn't have gotten my son's body. Nobody told me anything what was happening over there. By 2 o' clock I should get the body."
"Four of them who I know about and one of them died last night in a shooting, who went with my son. Then a month ago one them passed away. I don't know if he had passed away, but he had disappeared. At least I see my son's face, because they show me the picture."
