And Commissioner Chester was comfortable on the couch this morning - but it was no hot seat and that's because things were mostly quiet on the crime front. While weekends - especially long ones - are usually filled with violence, tonight we can report that there was only a shooting incident in Belize City. Two men were caught in the gunfire and were treated at the hospital. Superintendent Alejandro Cowo has the details.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, Head, CIB Belize City

"Just after 7pm, police visited the KHMH where they observed Mr Charles Hind Jr, 39 years, and Mr Sheldon Sosa, 32 years, both of them suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body. Mr Sosa was treated and discharged on the same night meanwhile Mr Hinds is still admitted up to this time in a stable condition. What we have gathered so far is that both of them along with others were at the corner of Elston Kerr and Iguana Street socializing when they were approached by someone who came out from a nearby yard and fired several shots in their direction causing the injuries to them."

"Based on the investigation and interviews we have conducted, it has given us an indication that it was due to an apparent misunderstanding between the suspected shooter and one of the victims who was injured."
