Tonight, family members and friends of Geoffrey Crawford, a Belizean in his late 60's, are gravely concerned for his wellbeing. That's after he went missing from his home in the Crooked Tree area this morning, and there are signs that someone may have hurt him nor worse.
He lives alone at this house, which is located on the opposite side of the Philip Goldson Highway and the junction which leads to Crooked Tree Village. He owns this Red Nissan Pathfinder which is missing tonight.
And while he is not known to lend it, multiple accounts are that, this morning 2 men, who are suspected to be his assailants, asked his neighbors for help to jumpstart his vehicle. They assumed that these men were either his relatives or close friends.
One of his neighbors helped with the jumpstart - but when he was about to leave the yard, he spotted Crawford lying unconscious in the back seat with injuries to the head.
Crawford's assailants drove off in his Red Pathfinder, and that's when area residents called the police. But, police took hours to arrive and that delay gave the culprits time to escape with the stolen vehicle, and Crawford, who they had subdued. Up to newstime, Police have been unable to find the vehicle.
We understand that Scenes of Crime personnel searched Crawford's property this morning, and they found blood. Sources tell 7News that neighbours did not hear any gunshots or any commotion that could have alerted them.
Crawford is retired from the Belize Port Authority and anyone knowing his whereabouts tonight is asked to call the police.
