And we asked the AG about the concerns brought up by Flowers. While she wasn't very involved with the consultations herself, she explained that this move is for the benefit of the public officers. She noted that government offices have had to close constantly because of COVID which not only puts the workers and the public who use the services at risk, but also puts a dent in the government's revenue.

Magali Marin Young, Attorney General

"I don't know who all Minister Chebat consulted, but I would think that the workers of these government departments would fully appreciate. They have had to face closures, they have seen members of their unions die, and I would anticipate that they would be understanding and know that these measures are being enacted upon the medical advice by medical expertise who have been asking government to please implement measures to try to contain the spread. Now, I could fully understand we may be voicing their concerns that they have not been consulted, but I am hoping that they will fully understand these measures have to be put in place to protect them. It is not in any way to wantonly aggravate or to curtail their rights. It is with a view to protect them and so it is with this in mind that these are being implemented. They are being informed and advice is being taken from the medical community. The doctors have spoken out, so I don't know is Minister Chebat reached out to them, but I assume that he has been in constant communication with doctors and nurses who are members of these unions and who know the seriousness of this pandemic that we are facing."
