On Tuesday we showed you a gang truce between neighbouring rivals Southside Gangsters and Supal Street.

It was mediated by politician Phillip Willoughby and witnessed by our 7News camera.

But, last night LOVE TV ran a hearsay story - without any interview to back it up - alleging that it was a sham truce, sponsored by Willoughby, and that one of the gang figures only did it for the money.

That's Kevin Alvarez known as "Motto" from Supal Street - and he's teed off tonight about what he says is a blatant untruth. Here's how he characterised his exchange with the LOVE TV reporter:

Kevin Alvarez, Supal Street
"He came and ask me that he wanted something to start a story and I let him know. I let them know that I already spoke to channel 7, because the problem I had with them and I done fix that. I don't have no next problem, that's the only talking me and him talk."

Jules Vasquez
"So you didn't have any private conversation with him?"

Kevin Alvarez, Supal Street
"Nothing like that. When I saw that, how will I make the news and I didn't tell any story. SO, when he is talking that about me, I am shocked now, why is he going by what people are saying."

Jules Vasquez
"The allegation is that you take money."

Kevin Alvarez, Supal Street
"I don't know where he got that talking from. Only he knows where he is getting that from, because I didn't take any money. I call Willoughby out of my own heart and I tell the man I need him to address something for me, because I am calling Mr. Williams and he was not picking up, so he says he will look into it for me and call Jules and let Jules know and so I tell him I will work with that. I was calling Mr. Dawson, but he was not picking up. So the only next number I had was Willoughby and so I call him and told him I wanted him to address a situation for me, because men was passing and I really don't want to... So he says that he will get to you and talk to you. I don't know about that money things. Its a lie. Now they put me in a hotspot, people are saying I did this for money, and nothing goes so. Its just out of my kind heart. It's not like I need money from anybody. I just want everything to cool down and calm down, because it was nice and I know it can't get back so. But now that whole thing they are talking about me it's a lie, because of one man he is trying to destroy the rest of men and he doesn't live around here. As he talk what he has to say he went, why he didn't stay and leave my name out of it, I didn't hold a conversation with him, so why is he calling my name. I would really want to tell the public that we are into peace, it's not money that they are saying that Willoughby gave us money. Its I who call the man out of my kind heart and he address this for me, because I am tired of seeing what is going on. He put me in another world. At the end of the day it's me who look bad and now I have to face this and people might say I am not real, but like I tell you I always keep it real. I am holding down the war, I am not into problem. Now they will look at me like I am the bad one, because of hear say and nothing go so."

Today, Phillip Willoughby - who LOVE's report alleged gave Alavarez an inducement had his attorney send LOVE TV a lawyer letter. It accused them of libelling Philip Willoughby and subjecting him to, quote "ridicule and contempt". They have demanded a retraction and apology.
