Security Guard Crashes and Dies

But while Jason Smith will live to tell the tale, another man, 58-year old Andy Smith lost his life last night. At around 9:30 he was traveling from Orange Walk to Belize City when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a lamp post on the opposite side of the road.

The cops found that vehicle, a damaged Nissan Pathfinder in some bushes between mile 45 and 46 on the right side of the Phillip Goldson Highway. Smith, who was found motionless had been flung 10 feet away.

Smith was transported to the Orange Walk Regional Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival. Smith had been a Security Guard at San Castillo Ltd in Belize City and was known to travel between Orange Walk and Belize City on a daily basis.
