Tonight six patients have lost the battle against COVID 19. Four of them were unvaccinated and two fully vaxxed. Four were also females and two males. Two of them were from San Pedro, the rest were from the districts of Belize, Corozal, Stann Creek and Cayo.
There are 32 patients in the hospital, 19 of them are unvaccinated and 11 have gotten both doses.
Of the 11 ICU admissions, 7 are unvaxxed.
There were 271 new cases discovered in the past 24 hours and the majority came from the Stann Creek district, which reported 81 new cases. The Belize district reported 50 and Cayo reported 44.
The active cases are at 2,679 and the number of deaths has risen to 482.
And, in related news, Paediatrician Dr Cecilio Eck continues to battle COVID - and he's in a very deep fight tonight. As we told you last night, he was transferred to the Belize Healthcare Partners COVID ward where his condition is being managed by Doctors Pedro Ariaga, Jorge Hidalgo and Fernando Cuellar. We are told he was intubated early this morning and remains that way tonight. His family continues to ask for prayers.
