81-year-old Was Ran Over In Silk Grass

And while Bermudez suffered what you might call the most terrible of fates, incredibly, he wasn't the only one.

That's because 81-year-old Demencio Cruz was also knocked down and run over yesterday. It happened in Silk Grass village between miles 7 and 8 on the Southern Highway, that's where the elderly man was attempting to cross the highway when he was knocked off his bicycle and run over by a tour operator's van.

Police found the van damaged on the side of the road and Cruz's body nearby lying in the middle of the highway. Investigations into this matter continue.
