And from K-94 to COP26, the PSU is condemning the PUP's 30-person delegation that will be attending the major event. The PM said in a previous interview that it was important for all of those persons to attend since they all have a role to play in climate change. But in a press release today the PSU said, quote, "The country is hanging on from a very thin economic thread in which the cost of living is very high in addition to the ever-increasing gouging fuel prices. We are in a period of austerity in which financial resources should be managed effectively to allow for the nation to recover fully economically and to grow holistically. The PSU is appalled that Prime Minister Briceno has opted to take such a large delegation to the COP26. We strongly recommend that the support staff attend virtually as a cost cutting measure which still allows for participation while the country's financial resources are mobilized effectively." End quote.
The PSU is also saying that they expect full transparency from the government with the publication of the total cost incurred by the GOB inclusive of airfare, hotel accommodations and cost per diem. And they're also asking for the full breakdown of the total funding by the United Nations Development Program, the REDD+ Project, the Biodiversity Finance Initiative, the Taiwanese government, PACT, and the EnGenDer Project.
And of course the PSU reminded GOB of the 10% salary cut and the increment freeze that public officers and teachers had to endure for what they believe was the betterment of the country.
