A road traffic incident in Concepcion Village last night took the life of Ezekiel Bermudez. He was riding his bicycle between miles 75 and 76 on the Philip Goldson Highway when he was reportedly knocked down by a cop, 38-year-old Police Constable, Lazaro Catch. But immediately following the collision, an SUV then ran over Bermudez's body and dragged him 30 feet along the pavement, with his bicycle. Bermudez was pronounced dead at the Corozal Community Hospital. Today our colleagues at CTV3 spoke to an eyewitness who said alcohol may have played a factor.

Anastacio Aban, Eyewitness
"I was in my hammock when I heard a bang. I got up from my hammock, when I got up I came out and see when I heard a next bang from another car that knock down the guy. The first one knock him down and the second one knock him again. I came out running to see. I saw the deceased lying down I saw a vehicle close to the bicycle, we took pictures from the vehicle and the next one that knock him down was on the other side.I told them to not move the body because it's two person that knock him down but then someone came and moved him and took him into a vehicle. And I saw some Belikin bottles inside the vehicle, the same vehicle that knocked him down."

"I told them to leave the body there until the police come, they didn't obey me so the first person that knock him down took him away. The second vehicle drove away."

"The first car was a black one and the second one that knocked him down is a white one. I told them you are drunk because I am seeing the man urinating behind the vehicle. That's a disrespect because how can you urinate there and a lot of people is around. That's all I saw."

Both drivers were served with NIPs.
