And a Dangriga family fears for the worst tonight after their father and husband went missing at sea - possibly abducted any pirates or narcos.
But 43 year old Fisherman Wilmer Enrique Limas didn't just disappear - his son says they came under fire - on southern waters. And it all happened on Wednesday night, hours before the drug plane landed at Kanantik.
His 24 year old son, Anuar Limas tells police that on Wednesday evening at 6:00, he and his father left from Dangriga on a fishing trip in their vessel named Captain Wilmer.
But, at about 8:00 their 27 footer had engine problems, so they threw anchor and started to fix it. That's when another boat pulled up beside them and the captain asked what they're doing in the area.
But he didn't wait for an answer and shortly after, a gunman onboard fired shots at his father. The younger Limas says the captain of the other boat then grabbed his father and hauled him into their boat. The gunman then fired at Anuar Limas and hit him in the lower back area and left forearm. He fell inside the boat and heard that the attackers firearm was jammed. That's when he lunged for the throttle, and sped out of the area - only hearing another gunshot as he raced off. He told police he shouted for his father but got no answer. He was on the run and kept going all the way back to Dangriga. But when he got there he didn't make a police report that his father had been abducted and possibly shot until the next day - he says because it was after curfew.
Now that the report has been made, Police have very little to go on - since the younger Limas could not say exactly where it happened and said he could not see his attackers - he could only say the captain was brown skinned. Police did find two bullet holes inside the stern of the Caption Wilmer boat.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Wilmer Limas is asked to call the police.
