The Police Commissioner also granted brief comments on a shooting incident in Belize City last night, which landed 36-year-old Clive Sutherland in the hospital.
The cops say that at around 7:40 p.m., he was riding his bicycle toward Mopan Street. Shortly after reaching the Vernon Street intersection, a man was apparently ready to intercept him, and that assailant fired 2 shots in his direction.
Sutherland was injured, and he collapsed on the ground. Fortunately, a police mobile patrol was in the area, and they quickly rushed him to the KHMH - where he is critical but stable.
Here's what the Commissioner had to say about that incident:
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Sometime around 7pm police were called to corner Vernon and Mopan Streets, where information was received that Clive Sutherland was riding a bicycle and upon reaching that area he was shot at by a male personw ho was standing across from Zoe Ministry. Sutherland was rushed to the KHMH where he is currently admitted in a stable condition."

"What can you share as the motive behind that? Is there a rift thats happening?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"From what we know, Sutherland is not affiliated with any gang so we are still trying to figure out what the motive of that particular shooting may be. So investigators are still, like you said, collecting information and hopefully Sutherland will be in a position to give us some details on that shooting."
