21-year-old Hernan Arturo Godoy is lucky to be alive after he was targeted by a gunman last night. He was at Cal's Bakery in Trial Farm, where he works, when, around 7:45, his attacker stood outside the bakery and opened fire, hitting him in the head. There was no attempt at robbery, so police don't know what could have motivated it - but, it was a very deliberate act: the scenes of crime team found five bullet holes through the window screen. But he survived and Godoy was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital for a CT Scan since the bullet was still lodged in his head.

His employer, who wished to remain anonymous, was nearby when the incident occurred. She spoke to our colleagues at CTV3.

"Well, last night we only heard five gunshots and we thought it was firecrackers that they came to throw here, so we came out and we saw a young man came out and told us they shot him and we realized he was bathed in blood and then the police came and took him to the hospital. Up until now we don't know his condition."

"He was inside the bakery packing bread. There was another man but he bake, only two of them were inside. They shoot him from outside and the person ran away so no one could have seen him."

"We haven't seen the young man since, he was taken to the hospital, we haven't spoken to anyone, not even his family members. The detective told us that he has a gunshot to his forehead, the right side of his forehead."

Police were able to detain a suspect within hours.
