And the CARICOM region's tendency to prefer the foreign produced items over the locally generated ones is a threat to regional food security - according to the President of the Caribbean Development Bank.

The Bank had its annual regional round up press conference today in Barbados and president Dr Gene Leon called for a "cultural reset"

"It has to be a cultural reset. You and I know very well that lots of Caribbean people we have sometimes a preference for foreign, accepting ours as good as foreign is equally a switch in mindset that we need to do so that we can welcome the very idea of growing our own, using our own for the benefit of our own people."
