There were 2 fatal traffic accidents over the Easter weekend, one in the Orange Walk District, and the other in the Cayo District.

We report first on a hit-and-run that happened at the infamous Mameyal Curve. Here's what police know at this time:

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Communications Officer

"On Saturday, at around 9:15 p.m. the 16th of April, police responded to a scene between my 50 and 59 on the Philip Goldson Highway — If you are familiar with this area, it's called the Mameyal curve — where they saw the lifeless body of Moisés Rogelio, 33 years, on the side of the highway. Also observing that scene was a black motorcycle with the rear wheel extensively damaged. We know that Rogelio's body was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. We believe that this was a result of a hit-and-run accident and we're asking the general public for any information that they could assist us, in trying to train to solve this latest hit-and-run."
