Earlier in the news, we told you about three of the seven deaths that occurred over the extended weekend. But the first murder occurred on Thursday night, sometime between 4pm and midnight. That was when the victim, 33-year-old Oscar Chiac, reported to work as a security guard at the primary school in Armenia Village. And it was in those eight hours that he was fatally stabbed on the second floor of the school's building. Courtney Menzies visited the family - who waited for hours for a glimpse of the alleged killers outside the Belmopan courtroom - and has this story.
While most families were enjoying the first day of the Easter Vacation, the Chiac Family in Armenia were grappling with the sudden loss of 33-year-old Oscar Chiac.
Chiac was on duty Thursday night as a security guard for the primary school when two men and a minor reportedly snuck onto the compound and stabbed him several times.
And while police are close to solving this case, this morning Chiac's brother stood in front of the Belmopan courtroom, pondering why anyone would want his brother dead.

Antonio Chiac, Brother of Deceased
"It's very hard and difficult to explain, it's a brother, a family man, it's very difficult when we found out about the unfortunate incident."
"That is the very sad part of it because as far as I know, he does not have any problems with anyone, so probably maybe a misunderstanding or something probably took place, I can't really tell at the moment, but the police are doing their work and I believe they should come to a conclusion and I think more than likely justice will prevail on the family side."
And justice is in sight since quick police work led to the arrests of a 16-year-old boy along with 23-year-old Jeremio Xol and 20-year-old Bernabe Xol. And communications officer, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, also believe that police have discovered the motive.

"Our investigation so far revealed that Chiac left for work at about 4pm on Thursday the 14th, where he was to work until midnight on Friday but was seen in Armenia Village, apparently drinking, when he got into an argument with three young men and we believe that these men, well, they were charged for his apparent murder. Police found a knapsack and a steel rod next to the body that they believe was the murder weapon."

"That's the good part about the situation, the police have come to a conclusion that the people who have committed the offences are now going to the court. So that's the good part, it was going to be more challenging or painful for the family, knowing that you lost someone you loved and you don't know who committed the offence. So we're just praying that justice should prevail on behalf of the family."
But even though the men responsible are now behind bars, there are still two young boys left without their father, who had worked two jobs to put food on the table.
Antonio Chiac, Brother of Deceased
"He has a family to maintain so he has his job, he works hard, and unfortunately, it occurred at the site at where he's working and that's the sad part about it, he was at work."
"He's well known within the community because he plays football, he's a footballer, and then he socialises as well and he's also a tour guide so the community knows him, especially within the whole entire Cayo District."
According to police, sometime before he was murdered, Chiac called the principal to report a classroom that was left open and it was the principal who discovered his body on Friday morning. However, at midnight, a watchman was supposed to take over from Chiac and though he reported to work at that time, he claimed that he did not see the body.
