At the top of the news, we told you about the drowning of a 15- year-old in the Cayo District. Well, there was another drowning that happened in Guinea Grass Village.

The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Faustino Camara, and at this time, police believe that he went swimming while under the influence of alcohol:

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Communications Officer
"On Monday, the 18th of April, at about 10:45 a.m., police visited a scene near the river in Guinea Glass Village, where they saw the lifeless body of Faustino Camara, 58 years. Camara was found in the river by his brother, who reported that he was at their residence on Sunday, and left about 2 p.m. apparently under the influence of alcohol and was not seen until his brother discovered his body in that river. There were no injuries observed, physical injuries to the body. His body was transported to the Northern Regional where it now awaits a post-mortem to determine the cause of death. We in fact began to campaign really early this year trying to discourage people from drinking and using the waterways. We must say that, yes, I agree. It's an adult. He knew exactly what he was doing, and we can stop you from going to the river whether or not you're sober. but we can only discourage you."

But, while police currently think that Camara went underwater while he was drunk, his family strongly believes otherwise. Our colleagues from CTV3 spoke with his brother, Fidencio, who found him on Easter Monday. Here's what he told them:

Fidencio Camara - Brother of the Deceased (Translated)

"At 5 o'clock in the morning, I got up and went to look for him. I was searching and searching, but something in my heart said that he is by the river and that somebody hit him and threw him into the river. I went to the river and I found him. I hugged him and kissed him, and I told him, here is where you end up. And he had his money all over the ground. I felt something that he didn't die just like that because he is an old fisherman. He wouldn't go into the river with his pants and his tennis, socks, and everything. He wouldn't die just like that because he was a strong man. I know he didn't die just like that. Someone did him something."
