A family from La Democracia Village in the Cayo District was traumatized over the weekend by a barrage of gunshots that was fired at their home.
At around 10:20 p.m. on Holy Saturday, Becky Estrada was at home with her common-law husband, Paul Smith Sr., and their 2 young children. That's when someone started shooting at their house. In the wild spray of bullets, Estrada was injured several times, and she had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the possibility that this family's home was targeted as some kind of retaliation because one of their children was recently arrested and charged with a murder.

"On Saturday, April 16th, around 10:20 p.m., Paul Smith Sr. and Becky Estrada were at home with their two minor children when they heard a barrage of bullets being fired at their house. Unfortunately, Ms. Estrada was hit and was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where she is receiving treatment."
"I think as recent as last week we charged Paul Smith Jr. for a murder and he has been remanded to Hattieville. We would be blind to not investigate the connection of the murder that he was charged with to this latest shooting."
