At the top of the news, we told you about the killings of Carlton Belisle Sr. and Carl Reneau.
They are the second and third murders coming since Friday. The first was the broad daylight killing of 27-year-old Desmond Budna. As we reported, the San Pedro resident came to Belize City on his 2-week vacation to spend time with his family. He was also going to attend graduation parties for his two youngest sisters, but all that celebration soured into grief on Friday morning. That's when Budna was gunned down in the Saint Martins' area of Belize City.
We asked the police communications officer, Fitzroy Yearwood, about that investigation:
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Communication Officer, Police Department
"On Friday, the tenth of June, at about 8:45 a.m, Police were called out on Amandala Extension Street, in the St. Martins area, where they saw the lifeless body of Desmond Budna, 27 years. Construction worker of a San Pedro Address. Initial investigation revealed that Budna was walking among the little extension when he was approached by a gunman from behind, who fired several shots at his target."

Daniel Ortiz
"We've spoken to the family and they are convinced that this gentleman was collateral damage and that he wasn't associated or linked to any sort of crime or gang underworld activities."
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
"I know that investigators also confirmed what the family is saying, that his name has never shown up on the police radar for any kind of gun or criminal involvement. So that makes it a little more difficult for us to investigate. One, we are trying to establish a motive. And obviously, this would want to seem like a random act of murder."
