24 year old Keon Dennison was found guilty of the murder of Businessman- Rueben Perez in May. And today Justice Ricardo O'Neil Sandcroft sentenced him to life in prison for it. He will only be eligible for parole after he has served 25 years. The judge deducted the 5 years he has already been on remand for the 2015 killing - so Dennison will serve 20 more years in jail before he is eligible for that parole.

Crown Counsel Riis Cattouse asked the court to impose a life sentence due to aggravating factors, namely that a gun was used, and that the crime was committed against a defenseless man at his place of work which was also his home.

Before being sentenced, Dennison's last words to the court were, "Sorry for what happened. Sorry for the lost of the deceased. I want to ask the court for leniency. I am the bread-winner of my family. Since I have been in jail, I am unable to help my mother do anything... Pleaded for leniency on me. I am very sorry for the people." End quote.

Justice Sandcroft noted in that since Dennison case went through full trial, he could not exercise much mercy upon him, since he wasted the court time in a trial and ended in his conviction. In the trial, he also noted that after the murder, Dennison went back stole the dead Businessman's cellphone - which he was later found with.

His co-accused, Tyrone Reid aka "Lobo" chose instead to plead guilty to murder and was also sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole until after serving 25 years. Dennison was 18 when he committed the murder.
