He killed a cop in broad daylight at the largest police station in the country - and today Marcial Toledo told a Supreme Court judge he is guilty as charged.
Toledo - who has been on remand since 2017 - stabbed PC Marvin Locke to death on the Raccoon Street Police compound in March of 2017 - and has been on remand since then.
The motive? Jealousy. Toledo arrived home drunk that day and told his wife that someone told him that they had seen her with PC Locke that morning. Hours later, he went to the Raccoon Street station - quietly sat until Locke turned up at and started talking to him. They took their conversation outside, which is when Toledo pulled out a knife, and stabbed the officer 5 times, with the fatal wound inflicted to his chest.
Fellow officers intervened as quickly as they could and Toledo tried to stab one of them - which is when another constable hit him in the head with a cement block to subdue him.
The case management began last Friday which is when Toledo indicated to the court that he was considering entering a guilty plea for murder which he formally did today before Justice Susan Lamb.
Sentencing has been set for September 23, 2022.
