Tonight, more than two years into the global pandemic health has, for many, taken centre stage.

Indeed, the health crisis has spurred a renewed focus on good health practices.

And if public officers hadn't gotten the memo by now they're about to, thanks to a new Ministry of Health and Wellness program that invites them to take charge of their health before it gets out of hand.

We heard more about the initiative from Director of Public Health and Wellness Dr Melissa Diaz and Nutritionist Robyn Daly.

Diaz also noted that among the types of cancer occurring most frequently in women are cervical and breast cancer. In men it's prostate cancer. This program will seek to provide more information on how and when to access preventative screenings in the hope of saving many many lives.
