A fireman from San Pedro is on bail after he was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl. 44-year-old Emmerson Michael was represented by Hurl Hamilton in San Pedro's Magistrate Court earlier this week where he was denied bail and remanded until October 27th. However, his attorney today successfully secured Supreme Court bail for him in the sum of $10,000.

The incident allegedly occurred on Saturday, July 23rd, near a nightclub. The victim told police that around 12:30am, she approached Michael, whom she had previously known as a medic, and told him that she wasn't feeling well. That was when Michael allegedly took advantage of her condition and raped her in the parking lot of the club.

A medical examination was conducted on the 17-year-old where the doctor observed signs of forceful penetration.

On Friday, August 19th, Michael handed himself into police after the victim made a report against him and he was arrested and charged.

Michael's bail comes with stringent condition ordered by Justice Susan Lamb, including that he must not interfere with the virtual complainant or any of the prosecution witnesses, he must report to the San Pedro Police Station every Friday, he must attend all his court adjournments in San Pedro, and he must surrender all travel documents.
