An Orange Walk man may have died from poisoning - after someone allegedly gave him a medicine to cure a drinking habit. 38 year old Firefighter David Alexander Peters died at the Northern Regional Hospital last night. His wife told police that he had a history of being a heavy drinker and one of his co workers at the station allegedly gave him a medicine to stop him from drinking. But it made Peters ill, first with diarrhea - and then, by nightfall, more serious symptoms. These forced his wife to rush him to the Northern Regional. He died there at 9:25 last night and the attending physician told police that he may have consumed an overdose of the medication.
The scenes of crime unit has recovered the bottle of medicine and police are investigating.
The Fire Chief Colin Gillett says "We are awaiting the post Mortem to see what caused his death…We have begun working on his payments to his wife and getting ready to help with the funeral."
