There was terror in King's park in mid-June when two young men from that neighbourhood, 26-year-old Jeffrey Buller and 26-year-old Jordan Bradley were killed in quick succession, not even a block from where the other died.
Their's were notable murders because they happened on the North side of Belize City in what are often perceived to be the "safe' neighbourhoods. But despite that perception Buller and Bradley's killers are more likely to get away than assailants on the Southside would have been due to the fact that those "safe neighbourhoods" are far less equipped with street cameras.
That's an issue that the Commissioner touched on today when he told the press about a Northside project to install multiple street cams to better monitor the streets. According to him there are four new cameras set to go up before the end of the month, all of them donated by private businesses in the area.
The COMPOL also told the press that the majority of Belize City's street cams have been donated by CABEI.
