And from the BDF to the BPD, yesterday, almost 300 officers received awards for their years of service, but perhaps the most memorable part of the ceremony was the miscue which had officers looking left and right on the parade square.
The video went viral with most criticizing the officers for not responding properly to the command. However, a post from the commissioner of police clarified the situation, saying quote, "The mishap on the parade square yesterday during the medals and awards ceremony was clearly not the fault of the officers who turned facing the street. The parade commander made the error he should have instructed for a left turn instead of right turn. The officers who turned left did so because they knew it was to be a left turn. It was clearly an error on the part of the commander and he has offered his apology for it." End quote.
The ComPol also in turn criticized the public for focusing on the negative rather than the officers being awarded. Today, asked the Police Minister what he thought of the situation.
