Police Knock Down Man On Cycle

40-year-old Jairo Vanegas is lucky to be alive tonight after a major accident on the Hummingbird highway near Belmopan put him in the emergency room. Vanegas, a police officer performing security duties, had just come off work to head home for lunch when he and his motorcycle were knocked down by a police mobile in mid overtake.

This video of the accident captured by a surveillance camera nearby shows Vanegas tossed onto the road as his bike goes in completely the opposite direction. After illegally overtaking through an intersection, the police mobile that hits him goes straight into the drain.

Vanegas was taken to the Western Regional Hospital where reports say he is listed in stable condition.
