Tonight, four women have dodged jail time after going on a shopping spree with a stolen debit card.

The women, 21-year-old Deandra Parham, 37-year-old Candice Parham, 35-year-old Kecha Miller, and 32-year-old Catherina Cadle, were in court today on charges of card theft after they bought over $1,600 worth of liquor and groceries using an Atlantic Bank card belonging to 29-year-old Symone Ogbujil.

On Monday, Ogbujil told police that she'd last remembered having her purse on December 16th, and she hadn't noticed until the 19th that it was missing - along with her ATM and ID cards. During the police's investigation, surveillance footage from two stores showed the four women purchasing items using the card.

Both Candice Parham and Cadle denied knowing the card belonged to Ogbujil, and yesterday, Deandra Parham handed herself into police.

In court, the women were unrepresented and Deandra Parham pleaded guilty, while the other three women pleaded not guilty. The three women were then granted bail of $1,500, which they all met. They are due back in court on February 20th, 2023.

For Deandra Parham, she was fined $2,500 plus a $5 cost of court, which she has until March 31st, 2023 to pay, in default, four months imprisonment. In court, she committed to paying back Ogbujil and returning the card.
