And DJ's aren't the only ones complaining for Christmas, so is the area rep for Port Loyola.
On Wednesday you saw a miscommunication turn into an extreme disappointment for Gilroy Usher and his constituent, Apolinaria Choc. Choc was told she would be receiving the keys to her brand new starter home, but once all the preparations were made for the ceremony, Usher got the memo that it had been postponed.
After that, Usher went on a 17-minute rant about his own government, and called out the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing, for the impromptu cancellation and the lack of attention given to Port Loyola.
Well, the Public Relations Officer for MIDH, Marisa Alamilla, clarified that she had indeed reached out to Usher's point person - his niece - to tell her that the ceremony had been postponed because the house was not completed up to their standards.
But Usher is insisting he never got that message. In a now-deleted Facebook post, Usher shows two screenshots, one of the house handing over that was on the schedule for Wednesday, and a text from Alamilla on December 12th telling him that there needs to be preparations done for the ceremony.
However, in Alamilla's screenshot of the message to Usher's niece, it was dated December 14th, two days later. Still, Usher emphasizes that there was no direct text or call to him to let him know the change in plans, even though his niece told Alamilla she did pass on the memo.
But though this internal squabble has made its way to social media, the person who has the most to lose is Choc, whose current house is hardly livable, and who wanted to spend Christmas in the new home.
But Alamilla told us today that the MIDH workers are working double time to finish the house. In these pictures she sent us, you can see that there were a lot of finishing touches left on the house, which is why Alamilla says she could not hand it over in that state. And as you will remember, Alamilla also noted that the reason the house couldn't be completed on time was because the contractor was too busy painting Usher's house for Christmas.
Alamilla has said that we will be updated when Choc's house is completed and she can finally move in.
