Similar to the Christmas holiday, this upcoming weekend will be celebrated as a 3-day break in which many will be out partying to bring in the New Year. And with all that partying, the cops will have their hands full, keeping the pace and keeping law abiding folks safe from harm.

Police deployments are already lined up to keep you safe on the biggest party night of the year, but the Police Commissioner is hoping that the public will do its part to ensure that the New Year's merrymaking is all good clean fun.

Here's the ComPol's discussion of the many New Years' Eve events that the cops will have to provide security for:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Our officers will be patrolling the different hotspots, the different business areas, all with a view to ensure that we maintain law and order. We have our extra patrol out as well, assisting the regular working police officers. We know that there are going to be a number of activities bringing in the New Year, and so, again, our presence at those activities is going to be important to ensure that law and order is maintained. While there are going to be those who will be excited about being given the opportunity to live to see another year, there are also going to be those who will be too excited and may want to use the opportunity of the midnight fireworks to discharge weapons, as well as to target those persons with whom they may have issues during this year. And so, it is important for us to ensure that we maintain strong presence. We know we have the biggest event of the night, LOVE FM countdown and that is going to be at the Digi Park. We have a complement of officers that are going to be working that event along with other events across the country."
