Back in 2014, a home invasion resulted in the murder of a taco vendor and her helper, along with two other assistants being shot. 42-year-old Alida Ascencio was preparing the chicken for her tacos along with 52-year-old Carlos Mayorga and two other women when two armed men barged into the home and stole $2,000. They forced all four victims to kneel before shooting them.
Not long after the incident, police had charged Khaleel Ponce with 2 counts of murder, 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of dangerous harm, and 2 counts of using deadly means of harm.
But after eight years on remand, Ponce was set free today. His attorney, Ronell Gonzalez, explained what happened in court.
