The Belize Peace Movement, the claimants who successfully forced the government to make firm commitments to the court on a redistricting timeline, is hoping that Belizeans will act as the watchdogs to ensure they get it done.
Yesterday, we spoke to their attorney, who said that although they failed to stop the 2020 General Elections and force a resolution to redistricting, they kept pursuing it on behalf of those "least valuable voters." Here are those comments:
Today, our Daniel Ortiz hand-delivered a Freedom of Information Act Request to the Elections and Boundaries Department in Belmopan. We have requested information on all redistricting exercises done on Belize's electoral divisions since 1981, when the country first got independence. We await a response from the Elections & Boundaries Commission Chairman, Oscar Sabido Puga.
